The Stargazer's Assistant explore worlds beyond earthly light with a new double album. As with previous releases by Stargazer’s Remoteness of Light eschews and subverts genre identification, instead drawing the listener into an unfamiliar, richly atmospheric, and elemental sound world populated by bursts of freeform percussion, spectral melodies and seething, haunted airs.
The Stargazer’s Assistant: David J. Smith (Guapo, Cyclobe), David J. Knight (Shock Headed Peters, UnicaZ̈urn) & Michael J. York (Coil, Cyclobe)
“[…] illuminating and ethereal. Its mix of modern and ancient instrumentation gives rise to a sense of alien space technology made from organic materials, as 'Agents of Altitude', the first of three twenty-minute pieces, describes a launch from an enchanted forest." – The Quietus
“Within the realm of the senses, Remoteness Of Light bleeds like a stream of consciousness that grabs its richness from everywhere.” – Freq
“[…] drifts, dreams and wanders.” – Vanguard
NOTE: Track 4, "Birth of Decay" is a live recording only available on the double vinyl edition. This track does not appear on the CD version.
